Position Overview
We are seeking an accomplished Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead to join our dynamic team. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with advanced software engineering expertise. You will be responsible for guiding agile squads, architecting scalable solutions, and ensuring robust and efficient software delivery for mission-critical projects. Working closely with stakeholders, you’ll balance technical excellence with strategic direction, ensuring solutions meet business objectives while fostering growth within the development team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and ongoing optimisation.
- Architect and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing software solutions tailored to client needs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align business goals with technical deliverables.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
- Conduct detailed code reviews, ensuring adherence to quality and best practices.
- Diagnose and resolve complex software issues, ensuring minimal downtime and high availability.
- Champion the adoption of emerging technologies and practices to maintain cutting-edge solutions.
- Oversee CI/CD processes to streamline deployments and improve delivery efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring project success.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Leadership & Management: 3+ years in a technical lead role, with experience managing agile teams and stakeholders.
- Core Technologies: Strong hands-on expertise with Java (JDK 8+) and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot).
- Architectures: Deep knowledge of microservices architecture.
- Databases: Experience with Oracle database design and management.
- Messaging & Streaming: Proficiency with ActiveMQ and Kafka.
- Cloud-Native: Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and OpenStack.
- CI/CD & Build Tools: Skilled in Jenkins, Gradle, and Maven.
- Caching & SCM: Experience with Redis, Git, and Bitbucket.
- Quality Assurance: Awareness of testing methodologies and software quality practices.
Desirable Experience
- Prior experience leading teams in the Financial Services domain (advantageous but not essential).
- Experience operating across different team structures, from small agile squads to larger project teams.
