Job Summary:
Zinkworks is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) for a 6-week contract to support a project requiring expertise in Graph Databases and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will be responsible for database administration, optimization, and ensuring the performance, security, and scalability of our database infrastructure. Experience with Google Cloud Spanner is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain Graph Databases, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
• Configure, monitor, and optimize databases hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Implement best practices for database backup, recovery, and security.
• Optimize database queries and indexing strategies to improve application performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with development teams to design and implement efficient database schemas.
• Provide recommendations for database scalability and reliability improvements.
• Document database configurations, processes, and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) with a focus on Graph Databases.
• Strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) database services.
• Experience in database performance tuning and query optimization.
• Proficiency in database backup, recovery, and security practices.
• Hands-on experience with database monitoring tools and techniques.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

• Experience working with Google Cloud Spanner. Upskilling could be required.
• Familiarity with data modeling and schema design for Graph Databases.
• Understanding of database replication and disaster recovery strategies.
• Experience in automating database administration tasks using scripting languages.
